HUNTINGTON Rovers maintained their perfect record in the York Minster Engineering League premier division thanks to a 5-1 defeat of Kirkbymoorside.

A crazy 20-minute period in the first half saw Rovers net four times courtesy of Chris Dyson, Ash Hill, Alex Burton and an own goal.

Ollie Varey pulled one back for Kirkby before the break, but a cheeky lob from Dyson in the second half sealed Rovers’ fourth win on the bounce.

Dunnington sit second after an own goal allied to strikes from Samson Wildwood (2) and Tom Anderson gave them a 4-2 victory over Poppleton, to give them 10 points from a possible 12.

A Reg Miah wonder strike from his own half, along with a Ben Brannigan effort, made up Poppleton’s tally.

Church Fenton continued their 100 per cent start following a 2-0 defeat of defending champions Wigginton Grasshoppers, who have now lost two of their opening four games.

Jonah Beecher kept up his run of goalscoring with another brace.

F1 Racing dominated their match with Copmanthorpe and led 2-0 at the break with goals from Dan Hickey and Alex Martin.

Four more strikes followed in the second half with Hickey completing his hat-trick and Martin getting his second, with Liam King also adding.

Old Malton St Mary’s made light work of Osbaldwick, as goals from Callum Scott, Tom Fenwick (2), Ben Lealman and Dean Nuttall gave them a 5-0 triumph.

Josh Gill struck for Hemingbrough United but they fell to a 2-1 home defeat against Tadcaster Magnets. Jack Overton and Kacper Kesy were on target for the visitors.

Two goals from Danny Owers and a Ben Lock finish gave Sporting Knavesmire a 3-2 win at Dringhouses. Danny Penrose struck both goals for the hosts.

There were no fixtures on Saturday but there will be another set of midweek games in the premier division on Wednesday night, including a clash between leaders Huntington and champions Wigginton plus a second Ryedale derby of the season between Kirkbymoorside and Old Malton, St Mary's having won the first one 8-0 a fortnight ago.

Teams in divisions one, two and three kick off their campaigns next Saturday.
