THE new Fastpack Ltd York Sunday Morning League season kicked off last weekend.

Two games were played in division one where newly-promoted Atlanta snatched a 2-1 win over Brayton thanks to a last minute goal.

Atlanta took the lead early on after a mistake by Brayton’s stand-in goalkeeper. Brayton came out fighting in the second half and were rewarded when Will Cleary netted a header.

However, Atlanta were awarded a penalty a minute into stoppage time and finished it off to clinch the three points. Ben Murphy and Ben Parker were on target for the victors.

The other division one encounter saw a win for another newly-promoted side as Acomb Club defeated Hambleton 2-1.

Hambleton led 1-0 at the break, through Jordan Leybourn, but Acomb managed to fight back with goals from Alex Day and Thomas Medd.

In division two, Thorpe United comfortably beat Selby Olympia 3-0. A goal from Jake Wild in the first half and two Daniel Jones’ finishes in the second period gave them the victory.

A very close game between Rawcliffe United and Wentworth eventually went the latter's way, 4-3.

Wentworth’s goals came from David Dawson, Will Moss, Diego Perdisci and Patrick Gibbs, while Rawcliffe’s were scored by Matthew Harrison, Aaron Newman and substitute Jordan Lissenburg.

A new team to the league, Kings Head United, lost out in their first game in the league with Clockhouse registering a 3-2 victory.

Goals from Dylan Howlett, Pa Sainey Kanyi and Bradley Walters proved the difference for Clockhouse. Lewis Hall and Andrew Palfreyman scored Kings Head United’s opening goals of the campaign.

Some midweek fixtures were arranged in division one due to last season's pile-up.

Acomb Club’s winning start came to an abrupt end with a 9-5 loss to Wigginton Grasshoppers.

Wigginton’s Jamie Willstrop bagged four goals for the away side. Jordan Holt and Matt Mulhearn both netted braces with Thomas Coates also on target.

Alex Day fired a hat-trick for Acomb Club, while Thomas Medd and sub Reece Coulson also added for the home team.

Atlanta made it two out of two with a 6-1 thumping of Bramham.
