TADCASTER Albion are hoping for a boost from Tuesday’s night’s thrilling seven-goal win at Sheffield FC – despite not being best pleased with the performance.

The Brewers were disappointed with the goals conceded in the 4-3 win, but admit the dramatic win may be the tonic they need after the flat Evo-Stik League east opening day defeat to Carlton Town.

New signing Joe Lumsden hit a match-winning second-half brace, Aiden Savory and Casey Stewart got one apiece and Michael Ingham saved a penalty as Taddy bagged their first points of term.

Tomorrow, Albion welcome Ebac Northern League division one leaders Shildon to the i2i Stadium for the FA Cup preliminary round.

Club spokesman Jay Taylor said: “The overriding feeling on Tuesday night was one of frustration, especially at conceding basic goals. We’re delighted to be off the mark with the win but it wasn’t the performance we wanted.

“It was better than Saturday. Coming from behind and winning the dramatic way does give us confidence going into Saturday’s huge FA Cup game – if we’d lost, it would have been a huge blow.

“We know Northern League sides are tough. We’re at home, but that might not have the impact we want, given last week.

“The FA have increased the amount of prize money, making it more lucrative but, more than that, it would be the boost about the town, the fans and for the season.”

Tadcaster are likely to stick with the team that won in dramatic fashion last week.

Pickering Town are yet to get off the mark in the division following Tuesday night’s 1-0 home defeat to Pontefract Collieries.

Tomorrow, the Pikes meet Colne at Scarborough Athletic’s Flamingo Land Stadium in the FA Cup preliminary round.

With experienced players George Bissett, Niall Tilsley, Nick Thompson, Matty Turnbull and Eddy Birch all missing until Monday night’s league game against Marske, the Pikes will welcome the recapture of forward Josh Greening from Tadcaster Albion.

Manager Paul Marshall said: “It’s great to have that extra bit of quality and pace up front.

“The FA Cup game will be tough. We’ll be bang up for it – at Bishop Auckland, not many gave us a chance, and I don’t think they will against Colne with players missing.

“But me and Denny understand what needs to be done, and we love the FA Cup more than most.”

Scarborough Athletic have started well up in the premier division, last drawing 2-2 at home to Matlock Town. Tomorrow, Boro visit Grantham Town before hosting local rivals Whitby Town on Bank Holiday Monday.

Selby Town travel to ESL west outfit Kendal Town tomorrow in the FA Cup preliminary round. The Robins have made an unbeaten start to the Northern Counties East League division one season, while Kendal got their first points on the board in a 1-0 home win over Skelmersdale United.

After starting their premier division campaign well, Knaresborough Town have now lost two on the bounce. Tomorrow they host Blyth in the FA Cup preliminary round.

Harrogate Railway Athletic lifted themselves to 18th with an emphatic 4-0 win at Bottesford Town on Wednesday. Tomorrow, the Rail travel to Hemsworth Miners Welfare.

Following last week’s 2-0 win at Aldershot Town, Harrogate Town continue their National League campaign with a home game against Solihull Moors tomorrow and a trip to AFC Fylde on Monday.
