Man of the match: Joel Edwards - Connor Robinson can count himself unlucky after a try-saving tackle, length-of-the-field try, excellent kicking and other quality moments, but the Aussie gets the nod for a classy display full of powerful runs and cracking big hits. His NRL background is obvious.

Referee: Liam Staveley (Bradford) – quite good although a number of 50-50 calls didn't go York's way.

Penalty count: 7-11

Half-time: 26-0

Weather: breezy

Attendance: 1,491

Moment of the match: Joe Batchelor not long since had lost possession in a ruck, probably due to interference from Matty Nicholson, who sarcastically celebrated the York man’s error. Batchelor soon made amends after a quick turnover the other way, by storming down the right wing, brushing off two men along the way, and giving the scoring pass to Ash Robson. It made it 42-6. Batchelor turned round and gave the trudging Nicholson a brilliant look.

Will Oakes came up with probably the only weak Knights tackle of the day as Tommy Brierley brushed him off to score Hunslet’s sole consolation try.

Gamebreaker: York nearly let slip a 24-0 lead in the reverse fixture. There was no danger of it happening here when Ash Robson beat four men to send Matty Marsh flying home for the first try of the second half and a 32-0 lead.

Match rating: In the good old days, news of Bradford’s defeat to Workington would have filtered through via one or two fans with transistor radios pressed to their ears. These days it comes via twitter and live streams on smartphones. The looks on faces are still the same though when word goes around. What a day this was for York City Knights. As the supporters sang, "We are top of the league"!
