YORK City Knights have gone clear at the top of Betfred League One after they thrashed Hunslet while title rivals Bradford Bulls lost to Workington Town.
James Ford's Knights hammered the Parksiders 48-6 at Bootham Crescent.
York fans then had further reason to celebrate in the stands after news filtered through that Workington had beaten the Bulls 24-18 at Odsal - completing a stunning league double against the title favourites.
York are now two points above Bradford at the summit with four games left.
Only one team are promoted automatically to the Championship, with the next four going into play-off semi-finals.
