Paul Birch and Charlotte Mitchell top scored in the comeback.

Poppleton, who have already been confirmed as champions, had Nick and Rebecca Turnbull dropping only one game as they beat York 2 in their final match of the season. The previous night, Pop beat and relegated Fulford.

York 2 and Wetherby Castlegarth had already secured their division one status with a draw earlier in the week.

David Lloyd won promotion back to the top flight after seeing off York 3 to take the division two title.

They were inspired by the unbeaten David Mackenzie-James and Frances Mutter, with good support from Adam Harvey and Frances Critchley.

Another of the week's draws was between promoted York 4 and Bishopthorpe, who avoided the drop by a single point, thanks to the unbeaten James Parker and Ellie Page.

A much-needed win for Rowntree Park kept them in the division thanks to Paul Adams and Vanessa Kennedy.

Fulford 3 won the division 4 title following victory in their final match, beating Cliffe.

Dave Stewart and Pauline Craddock finished again, with Pip Cook and Sue Watson providing good support.

Tollerton will now have to wait for David Lloyd 2 to play their remaining two matches to see if they will finish as runners-up after beating Copmanthorpe and edging out York 5by a games difference of just two.

York's won at Wetherby Castlegarth 2, for whom Jake Lonsdale and Beth Barker finished the season with an impressive 28 games.

David Lloyd 3 proved too strong in division five, finishing with a nine-point advantage over opponents Stillington, who will finish as runners-up.

The only team who could have displaced Stillington were Rufforth 2, who lost to Rowntree Park 2.

Park needed the points to avoid relegation, and a 12-0 final rubber win by Kevin Davison and Sandra Robinson secured them.

Will Edmond and Chris Place were one of the week's top scorers with 31 as Rufforth bounced back with a big win at Cawood.

Sutton-on-Derwent 3 lead the way in division seven - but have two games against their title rivals to come.

Mark Pryce and Goldie Cosby top scored with 29 games to ensure victory at Stillington 2 for the new title favourites.

John Leetham and Mary Pepper just outscored teammates Terry Savage and Janine Walton to ensure Cliffe 2 are still in the hunt for the title with a win at Dunnington 4.

However, Rufforth 3's hopes are probably over after they shared the points with Riccall in a very close match.

Two teams dominated division eight, with Wigginton 4 beating Appleton Roebuck 3 to pick up their third trophy.

Connor Firth and Sandra Burley won 27 games for Wigginton, who will be joined by runners-up David Lloyd 4.

Lloyd's Clive Christion and Chris Twigge won 27 games as they beat Tollerton 2.

Despite losing their final match,Wilberfoss 3 will stay up on games difference after their match at Wistow, who were unable to stop Henry Hackwell and Sarah Huggins winning 33 games.

Lee Brayford and Katy Fowler also took 33 games as they rounded off an unbeaten season for David Lloyd 5, who took their third trophy and ended Dunnington's outside chance of staying in division nine.

New team New Earswick 2 were the other unbeaten side, ending the season with two more points against Sutton-on-Derwent 4 and taking the division 10 silverware.

York 6 will join them after another impressive win, led by captain Jean Jaram and Robin Karfoot winning 33 games.
