NEW Earswick All Blacks ARLC will need to win their last two matches to have any chance of escaping the drop in the Yorkshire Men's League premier division.

Their 40-18 defeat to high-flying East Hull left them two points from safety and needing to beat both their two relegation rivals, Bramley Buffaloes and Lindley Swifts, in their final fixtures.

Those two teams, however, have games in hand and could condemn All Blacks to relegation regardless.

New Earswick led 6-0 and 12-6 but were without a number of key players and East Hull, with their extra experience, took advantage.

All Blacks' tries came from Ben Stoker, Angus Barrick and Joe Hudson, with Connor Calam adding all three conversions, while hooker Matt Cannon was the hosts' man of the match.

Meanwhile, a sparkling team effort saw Heworth 'A' win 50-18 at Kirkburton Cougars in YML division five.

A superb first half of open rugby combined with a sound defence saw the Villagers build a 28-0 interval lead with tries from Liam Cashmore, Johnny Marwood, Sam Johnson, Sam Atkinson and Liam Braithwaite, plus goals from Cashmore and Lewis Hartley (3).

The Cougars stepped up their game in the second period and were rewarded with three converted tries, only

for Heworth to finish in style.

Jake Atkinson, brother Sam, with his second, Kenny Strangeway and George Wallace all crossed and man-of-the-match Hartley added three further conversions.
