MORE than 30 former players have been confirmed for Sunday’s York City Legends match at Tadcaster Albion Football Club.

Gary Mills and Darron Gee, City’s 2012 double Wembley-winning management team, are also taking charge for the day and will be able to select from six of the squad – Jon Challinor, Michael Ingham, Scott Kerr, David McGurk, Jamie Reed and Chris Smith – that helped them guide the club back into the Football League and lifted the FA Trophy six years ago.

Along with Ingham, Kerr and McGurk, there will be five other City players donning their boots – Steve Bushell, Barry Jones, Andy McMillan, Dave Merris and Steve Tutill – who have been crowned Billy Fenton Memorial Trophy winners as past Clubmen of the Year on the Legends’ roster.

Tony Canham – a member of the mid-1980s Denis Smith squad that held the mighty Liverpool to a 1-1 FA Cup draw at Bootham Crescent and Alan Little’s team that helped the club to Wembley glory in 1993 – will feature too and he will be joined by Paddy Atkinson, Andy Bishop, Lee Bullock, Andy Campbell, Neil Campbell, Richard Cresswell, Nick Culkin, Iain Dunn, Craig Farrell, Andy Ferrell, John Fielding, Luke Foster, Christian Fox, Russ Howarth, Darren Kelly, Dean Lisles, Chris Porter, Shaun Reid, Dave Spofforth, Darren Williams and Greg Young.

The match, which kicks off at 2pm, will form part of a wider Family Fun Day at the i2i Stadium that will include several children’s fairground rides, craft stalls and a fully-licensed bar, with doors opening at 12:30pm and activities continuing into the early evening.

Admission for the match and fun day is £5 for adults and £2 for under-16 children or £10 for a family of four.

Proceeds will be split between the Supporters’ Trust and The Offside Trust – an organisation that aims to combat child abuse in sport.

The teams will also be wearing specially-produced Y-front style kits for the match and the shirts can be bought by visiting www.ycst.org.uk/legends-shirts/
