YORK Acorn ARLC duo Leigh Paul-Rientoul and Reece Rushworth have been given a huge cash boost to help them make the BARLA Great Britain tour to Fiji in November.

A sportsman's dinner with Castleford and England star Luke Gale at their Thanet Road club added to their coffers and now the Pavers Foundation, an offshoot of York-based company Pavers Shoes, has handed over £1,000.

As reported by The Press, coach Paul-Rientoul, who led Yorkshire to their BARLA Tri-Series triumph last year, is due to travel as the GB assistant-coach, while back-rower Rushworth, brother of York City Knights star Joe Porter, has been named in the playing party.

However, with it being an amateur tour, they need to raise £2,500 each to make the trip.

Paul-Rientoul, a former Pavers employee, said: "Reece and I are very grateful for this amazing contribution to help us on our way on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

"My father, who works for Pavers, told me about the new Foundation scheme and applied for us. They were all for helping and supporting the community."

Mark Granger, of Pavers, said: "The Pavers Foundation was formed with the intention of supporting good causes and projects in three distinct areas - health, education and community.

"Every cause the Foundation will support will be championed by our staff. We are delighted to be able to support them."
