Meanwhile, the semi-finalists in the York John Smith's Ladies' League pairs competition have been decided.

Joining Acomb Conservative Club's Gina Whittaker and Bev Harton are clubmates Tracey Farmeary and Jayne Janes, Tramways duo Linda Staveley and Wendy Sullivan, and Wendy Storr and Michelle Kelly, of Severus ‘B’.

The semi-finals will be at Tramways on Tuesday, September 25.

Farmeary was the outstanding performer in the quarter-finals, throwing a maximum, two 140s and two 125s in her wins with Janes.

Against daughter Lauren Farmeary and partner Tina Platt, Janes and Farmeary just missed a 101 checkout for 24 darts in a 2-0 result.

A 30-dart 701 game with a 76 checkout saw them through against Sue Tate and Georgina Clayton (Tramways), who had won a tense 2-1 game against Angela Fletcher and Alice Turgoose (Clifton).

Storr and Kelly won a three-game thriller against Clockhouse mother-daughter pair Rose Gray and Laura Gatenby via a double-one shootout before disposing of Acomb pair Pat Bowness and Natalie Bosworth 2-0.

Puss N Boots duo Lisa Russell and Kirsty Limbert then fell 2-1 to Storr and Kelly, who again triumphed on double one.

Whittaker and Harton ipped Fulfordgate’s Michelle Britton and Dawn Exton. Britton closed on 90 for the first leg but a 50 checkout from Whittaker set up the decider where a double four sent the Acomb pair through.

Staveley and Sullivan edged Tramways mother and daughter Karen Alton and Becky Thomson in their board final, where Alton closed on double seven before Staveley levelled with double 20.

The final leg was nip and tuck before another double one secured the win.
