MALTON & Norton Golf Club starlet David Hague will be back on international duty next month, this time in amateur golf's European Team Championships.

Hague is in the six-man England squad for the tournament to be held on the Faldo course at A-ROSA Scharmützelsee, in Germany, from July 10 to 14.

Already this year, the 21-year-old - last season's North of England Amateur champion - has helped England to win the European Nations Cup in Spain and beat France in an international match in Nice.

They will now be gunning for gold in Germany after last year’s narrow defeat in the final.

Others in the England squad are Todd Clements, 21, of Braintree, Matthew Jordan, 22, of Royal Liverpool in Cheshire, Gian-Marco Petrozzi, 21, of Trentham, Nick Poppleton, 24, of Wath, Yorkshire, and Mitch Waite, 23, of Filton, Gloucestershire.

The England women's team, meanwhile, coached by Ryedale's Steve Robinson, will be targeting a third consecutive gold medal when they go to Murhof Golf Club in Austria for their Euro comp.
