YORK City supporters will get the chance to watch the players train and pose for the official team photo at next month’s Open Day.

An opportunity to snap selfies with your favourite player and get their autographs will also be possible at the Bootham Crescent event, which will be staged on Sunday, July 22 when the club’s new kit will go on sale too.

There will be a bouncy castle, face painting and other stalls, meanwhile, with a licensed bar in the Keith Walwyn Lounge and hot and soft drinks served in the 1922 Bar.

Commenting on the fun day, City sporting director Dave Penney said: “It’s a free event and we’re hoping it will be a chance for the supporters to get to know the players better. All of the players will be available for the fans to talk to, get their autographs and take selfies with, because we want to be more accessible to the public as a club.

“The photo call will be taking place as well, so it’s a rare opportunity for people to see how that is done and, then, there will be a public training session afterwards.”

Gates will open at 10.30am, with the team photo taking place at 11am, training starting at 12noon and the autograph/selfies session lasting from 1.15pm to 2pm.

City’s new strip is being produced by Dream Sport and is planned to be worn at all of the Minstermen’s pre-season fixtures, starting with the Saturday, July 7 trip to Northern League outfit Shildon.

The sportswear line are a branch of the popular Under Armour group, who will also be providing the club with training kit for the 2018/19 season.
