YORK City Knights boss James Ford avoided the question of whether he was disappointed to see former loan star Kieren Moss join Halifax for the rest of the season rather than return to the Minster city.

The Aussie full-back racked up 14 tries in 10 appearances for the Knights on loan from Hull KR - including equalling a York RL record of seven tries in a match in the world record 144-0 humbling of West Wales - before being recalled by the Super League club last month.

He scored a hat-trick in the Magic Weekend derby defeat to Hull but it wasn't enough to win over Robins boss Tim Sheens and instead he has gone out on loan again, although this time to Championship big-guns Fax, who are looking at competing with top-tier teams in the Middle 8s.

Ford said: "I spoke to Kieren a couple of times. He wants to challenge himself at Super League level and rightly so.

"The opportunity to play for Halifax came up, hopefully in the Middle 8s, and that's where he feels he needed to test himself, at the highest level available to him.

"I enjoyed working with Kieren and he enjoyed his time here. I hope he is a revelation at Halifax - it's a good signing for them."
