YORK boxer Michael Fafera has won the Cash Fighter tournament in Leicester and earned the top prize of £10,000.
The light heavyweight underdog was the least experienced at the eight-man competition but still saw off three opponents.
Fafera, who is trained at the TSM Club by Steve Melton, squared up to the hugely experienced Leicester-based fighter Martin Concepcion in his first fight, taking only a minute of the first round to stop his opponent after three knock-downs.
The semi-final was comfortably won on points over four two-minute rounds against Leicester's Omar Kalik, who had previously won 19 of 25 fights.
Fafera claimed his final win of the night against Worcester's John DP Shaw. In a scrappy affair, Fafera's accuracy and shot selection won him the European Boxing Federation-licensed contest.
