A YORK boxer has been named Development Boxing Champion of England.

Shauna Jerrold won all three of her fights at this year’s Boxing Development Championships in Solihull to take the accolade.

These three wins followed on from two at last year's championship in Liverpool, meaning that the 22-year-old is unbeaten in five fights.

Originally from Stamford Bridge, Jerrold, who first got into the sport at the age of 13 through her father, now competes with St Vincent's Amateur Boxing Club in Sheffield in the 60-64kg weight category.

However, Jerrold and her coach Chris Speight cannot get to Sheffield very often - so Speight has built a gym in his garage with an exercise bike and a punching bag.
