STOCK worth £2,000 has been stolen from York City's club shop.
A break-in took place at KitKat Crescent between late on Saturday afternoon and 9.20am on Sunday morning, when groundsman Mark Hurst reported for duty.
More than 100 home and away shirts were among the missing merchandise, with Nike-branded York City fleeces, coats and T-shirts also taken.
The shop alarm did sound, but went unreported, and communications and community director Sophie McGill said: "We urge all supporters who may come across York City merchandise, either via the internet, at a car boot sale or if approached by an individual, not to purchase the goods as it is likely they have been stolen.
"The only outlets for official merchandise are the club shop at KitKat Crescent or via the official website www.ycfc.net. It is very sad that thieves have targeted York City, especially at this crucial time when we are preparing for the new season. If anyone has any information regarding this incident, we would appreciate it if they could contact North Yorkshire Police."
