NEW floodlights have been installed at Selby RUFC's Sandhill Road ground.
Funding for the scheme was provided by North Yorkshire County Council's locality budget, and recommended by Selby councillor Steve Shaw-Wright.
Cllr Shaw-Wright, who represents Selby Barlby at the county, said: "The Locality Budget allows me to make real, tangible differences to the local community.
"The improvement at the rugby club will make it possible for more players to train at the club, bringing greater social inclusion and hopefully more playing and social members at this key sporting venue in Selby. I have been lobbying, successfully, I believe for the County Council to continue the Locality Budget scheme beyond 2016."
Meryl McCoy, from the club, said: "Selby RUFC are really grateful for the support given to help improve the facilities for their players of all ages to have extended playing and training facilities afforded by the new and improved lighting on the third pitch and under-12s pitch."
