MALVIND Benning is determined to get a run of first-team starts under his belt after joining York City from Walsall.
The 21-year-old left back has made 19 senior appearances for the Saddlers this season - more than any other campaign is his career - but has grown restless at the Bescot Stadium having not kicked off a match since mid-October.
Former Sheffield United defender Andy Taylor and highly-rated 17-year-old Rico Henry have both jumped ahead of him in the pecking order for a Saddlers' starting place and Benning is hungry for action at Bootham Crescent.
On his switch to City, he said: "I had a meeting with my agent, who spoke to the manager at Walsall and my name was circulated for a loan move. York were one of the first clubs to contact Walsall and I'm delighted to come here.
"I asked to go out on loan because I was becoming a little bit frustrated at not playing and the manager understood where I was coming from, so he allowed me to come out."
Since making his debut at the age of 18, Benning has played 48 times for Walsall and scored three goals, including one against Southend in the Capital One Cup this term.
