A SIBLING switch graced the York Union of Golf Clubs’ Pike Hills Cup greensomes competition at Sandburn Hall GC.
Brothers David and Paul Marsay, both Sandburn Hall members, had always played together as a pair, but this year opted to play with different partners.
It was David who prevailed alongside Mike Butterworth, with brother Paul and Tim Clarke having to be content with the best nett prize.
The latter duo were among the early starters and posted a splendid gross 71 to head the leader-board right through to most of the afternoon.
Easingwold GC pair Mike Pickering and Trevor Boddison did record a best of the day gross 70, but the conditions of the competition meant that they could not compete for the Trophy.
Heworth GC’s Jim Batt and Andy Wright added a fine 72 to finish second in the Trophy, while third spot went to Geoff Stericker and M Thompson of Fulford with a 75.
John Newman and Pete Taylor of Kirkbymoorside GC took the last of the net prizes.
