EASINGWOLD Town lifted the York Minster Engineering Football League Senior Cup to ease the pain of relegation from the premier division.

Town toppled top-six side Dringhouses 4-3 on penalties after the final finished 1-1 after extra time at Wigginton’s Mill Lane ground.

Having taken a first-half lead through Simon Webster, Easingwold were pegged back by an equaliser from Dringhouses early in the second period.

Neither side was able to break the deadlock, but Easingwold seized control of the penalty shoot-out when ’keeper Jack Rushworth saved the first two Dringy spot-kicks.

Captain Jonny Durrant then netted the crucial winning penalty to seal Easingwold’s second Senior Cup triumph following their first success 40 years ago.
