The biker killed in a separate crash in North Yorkshire has also been named by police. Adam Nunns, 33, from Stockton-on-Tees, was killed on the notorious B1257 Helmsley to Stokesley Road, between Newgate Bank and Helmsley, on Sunday.

He had been riding a blue and white Suzuki GSXR 1000cc bike when it collided with a silver Peugeot 106 car travelling in the opposite direction.

Anyone with information about that crash is asked to contact Traffic Constable 988 Richard Hammond on 0845 6060247.

Meanwhile, a former pub landlady was today comfortable in York Hospital after she was knocked down in Hambleton, near Selby, receiving serious head and facial injuries.

The 46-year-old woman was involved in an accident with a Mitsubishi people carrier on the A63 Selby to Hambleton Road outside the Wheatsheaf Inn, in Main Street, at around 9.45am on Monday.

Police were unable to say whether the former Wheatsheaf landlady had been crossing the road or had been clipped by the Mitsubishi while she was on the narrow pavement outside the pub.

She was moving out of the pub and is believed to have been collecting some of her belongings at the time of the accident.
