A PEDESTRIAN has suffered serious injuries after being involved in a collision with a cyclist in Scarborough.

The pedestrian, a local women in her forties, was walking along Ramshill Road approaching the junction of Belmont Road, when a cyclist travelling in the same direction, collided with her, knocking her to the ground before landing on top of her.

The woman suffered a broken shoulder and broken elbow as a result of the incident, which happened at about 1.10pm on Friday.

The male cyclist was wearing a black hooded top and was riding a yellow bike. He stopped at the scene to help the woman call for assistance, however, he left without leaving any contact details.

Police are appealing for the cyclist and witnesses to the incident to contact them.

PC Ken Gunn of Scarborough police said: “The woman has sustained serious injuries as a result of this incident and it is important that we speak to the cyclist and anyone who saw what happened.

“The incident occurred around lunchtime on Friday and the road would have been fairly busy at the time. I am appealing for the cyclist and anyone who was in the Ramshill Road area who saw the cyclist or the incident to contact Scarborough police.”
