A MAN remains in police custody after a shooting incident at a North Yorkshire seaside town.

North Yorkshire Police said they believed the 36-year-old victim was shot in the leg following a struggle with another man at a property in Eastfield, Scarborough, on Saturday.

A 28-year-old man was arrested at about 1.20pm yesterday, at an address in New Queen Street, on suspicion of attempted murder, along with a 51-year-old man, who was detained on suspicion of assisting an offender.

The 28-year-old remains in police custody for questioning, and the 51-year-old has been released on police bail.

A 26-year-old woman was also arrested at about 8.40am yesterday, at an address in Seamer Road, but has been released without further police action.

A police spokesman said the victim has been discharged from hospital, and investigations are continuing throughout the Scarborough area, with officers actively searching for the weapon which was used in the incident.
