Bunny Gray was today celebrating her 100th birthday with a special party at Paradise Day Centre in Easingwold.
Bunny, whose real name is Irene, was born in Fulford, York, and spent most of her life in the area, although for a short time she and her family lived in Freetown, South Africa, where her husband worked for the British Government as an engineer.
One of her earliest memories is of the zeppelins approaching York to bomb it during the First World War.
She married in 1939 and went on to have three daughters, Diane, Rosemary and Jennifer, and now has five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
She was a valued member of the British Red Cross, helping in its holiday homes.
She moved to Easingwold about 26 years ago and became involved in the Galtres Centre and drama group, helping in many ways. She now attends Paradise Day Centre in Crabmill Lane three times a week, where she enjoys chatting to people and handing around the biscuits.
