TWO people have died and a third has been left badly injured after a car crashed on the A64 near Tadcaster.
Police were called to reports of a serious collision at around 11.50pm on Monday (May 3).
Police said the vehicle had veered off the carriageway, trapping the driver and two passengers.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "The driver, a 22-year-old man and the rear seat passenger, a 16-year-old boy, were both pronounced dead.
"The front seat passenger, a woman in her 20s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
"All three occupants are from the West Yorkshire area.
"The vehicle, a Vauxhall Insignia, was later reported stolen. No other vehicles are believed to have been involved.
"The carriageway was closed to allow emergency services to deal with the incident and a police investigation into the collision is ongoing."
