THE Camphill Village Trust has been given permission to use the toilets at Pickering’s community park.

Pickering Town Council was told that following permission being given to the trust to use the community allotment garden for therapy to benefit local people with disabilities and health conditions, the organisation had now asked if they could be allowed to use the toilets, if they were prepared to clean and maintain them.

The Community Park Committee had recommended that this permission was given as many of the users of the allotment garden would be elderly, vulnerable, or have disabilities or health conditions.

One council member suggested that Camphill Village Trust should be responsible for keeping the toilets locked when not in use, should be responsible for any damage to the building or fittings caused by them or their users, and be responsible the replacement of lost keys.

The council proposed to accept this recommendation on the basis of the information given, and with the amendment made by the councillor.

Permission was granted until March 31and could be withdrawn by giving one week’s notice.
