A POPULAR Ryedale attraction is to temporarily close its doors next month due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Eden Camp Museum, near Malton, says it has made the 'difficult decision' to close from Monday, November 2, to Sunday November 15, due to a reduction in visitor numbers.

A statement on its website said: "With the ever-changing circumstances and the impact that the tier system has had on our business, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close from Monday, November 2, to Sunday, November 15.

"Although we are currently in the Medium Tier (Tier 1), our visitors travel from far and wide, including those in Tier 3 areas; resulting in a reduction of visitors through our gates.

"Our staff and volunteers have been working tirelessly to keep our museum open, and we are ever grateful for their commitment and efforts every day.

"The museum will continue to fight for the future viability of the business and its staff, and this is the reason we have chosen to close for a short temporary period."

Museum staff will be contacting anyone booked to visit during this time to either rearrange the visit or issue a refund. Christmas bookings will not be affected.

It added: "We really appreciate your loyal custom and we look forward to welcoming all our guests back with us in the very near future."
