Cllr Lindsay Burr, member for Malton, said: “These works will go a great length in ensuring key roads in Malton are fit for the increasing traffic demands.

“I have expressed to the contractors that the work must be carried out as swiftly as possible to alleviate disruption for residents and businesses.

"Although the scheme will take a number of weeks, we are sure the benefits will be felt for years to come.”

County Cllr Don Mackenzie, executive member for access, said: “This work recognises the importance of maintaining good-quality roads for residents, businesses and visitors.

“Resurfacing is very much weather dependant so we will keep the public updated of any changes to the schedule. We would like to thank the public in advance for their patience and cooperation during the essential scheme.”

Vehicle access will be restricted as well as on-street parking. Residents are being asked to find alternative locations to park their vehicles on the affected streets.

Advance warning signs will be in place and there will be a signed diversion during the road closure periods.
