MOTORISTS are being being reminded about road closures on the A64 from this evening (Friday).

The first takes place between Station Road in West Heslerton and St Hilda’s Street in Sherburn from 8pm until Monday at 6am.

Closures will also take place over the same section of the A64 next weekend, Friday, October 2, from 8pm to Monday, October 5 at 6am.

Further updates are overnight (8pm to 6am) closures of the A64 between Brambling Fields and Scagglethorpe planned for four nights starting on Monday, September 28, for resurfacing.

A spokesperson for Highways said:  "Access will be maintained for residents living within the area of the road that is closed. Anyone living outside of the closure points but needs to travel along the A64 can follow the clearly-signed diversion routes.

"Substantial work to improve safety around the junctions at Crambeck and Welburn was completed by Friday 18 September as planned. We have incorporated some additional work to improve the existing footpaths for local residents, and this additional work should be completed next week and will be part of our ongoing major safety improvements along the A64."
