A PERSON was taken to hospital following a chip pan fire in a basement flat.
The blaze happened in the early hours of today (Wednesday) on North Marine Road, in Scarborough.
Crews from Scarborough, Filey and Sherburn were alerted at 12.52am to deal with the fire in the kitchen of the basement flat.
The flames caused extensive fire and smoke damage.
All occupants were out of the flat by the time firefighters arrived and one was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation.
