THE number of assaults against police officers and police staff in North Yorkshire has risen by 60 per cent during the lockdown period.
North Yorkshire Police say since late March, 87 incidents have been reported, including officers being punched in the head, bitten, spat and coughed at, scalded with hot water and headbutted.
