PEOPLE have been urged to enter an online raffle to win a £500,000 house in West Yorkshire - at just £2 per ticket.

Den Goodridge, 43, has put his five-bedroom house up for sale in this unusual way after seeing a previous sale fall through due to the pandemic.

The Corby, which is in Huddersfield, has five bedrooms, four bathrooms, a games room and a fully stocked wine cellar featuring more than 300 bottles.

Den hopes to donate between £10,000 and £20,000 from the total raised in the raffle to Leeds General Infirmary's Clarendon Wing.

He wants to give back after they saved his eight-year-old daughter's life after she was taken to the hospital after suffering an abscess on her brain. She was taken into theatre where her life was saved twice that night.

“We were on our way to school when my daughter complained of headaches,” said Den.

“It was very unlike her to feign illness or want to miss school at all, so it was a bit of a worry.

“We took her to A&E where doctors told us just how sick she was – she remained there for several weeks and was even put in an induced coma. It was an awful and scary time.”

“I really hope that by raffling our family home, we can raise enough money to help make a real difference to the ward that helped save my daughter’s life – she wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for them.”

Originally owned by a wealthy mill keeper over 100 years ago, the Victorian property has made a name for itself over the years, having appeared on TV in the ITV drama, Where The Heart Is, as well as the Channel 4 series, Phil Spencer: Secret Agent.

Along with the property itself, the raffle prize also includes all legal and stamp duty fee.

“Although it was a big decision to raffle off our much-loved home, we’re excited to give someone the chance to win this truly unique Victorian property and make their dreams come true,” added Den.

“I’ve also been collecting wine for many years and rather than moving it all to another property we thought it’d be a nice housewarming gift for the new owners – a perfect way to toast their win and new home.

“The Corby has been the most marvellous home for our family, but it's the right time for us to make a move and take on a new adventure together.”

Tickets are available online for the raffle until October 30.
