ONE of the area’s most popular one-day shows has gone virtual for the first-time ever.

The 154th Ryedale Show was due to take place last Tuesday, July 28, but was cancelled in April following the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, dozens of entries were submitted for the first virtual Ryedale Show, with judging taking place on the original show date.

Show secretary Christine Thompson said: “As with many other events, it was a great shame that we couldn’t go ahead this year.

“However, people really entered into the spirit of the virtual show and we were pleased that we managed to mark the day with an event of some description.

“The newly-introduced classes for Best Flower Garden and Best Vegetable Garden will continue in future years and will be judged prior to show day with the winners being announced at the show itself.”
