A BROTHER and sister are helping to raise money to pay for the funeral of their cousin, who has died from cancer, at the age of 19.

Ella Lazenby, 19, and Billy Lazenby, 17, from Thornton-le-Dale, are fundraising towards funeral expenses by running a marathon and walking the Yorkshire Three Peaks.

The pair have already raised more than £1,609 for Joe Aspinall, who was an aspiring footballer from Huddersfield.

Ella is walking the Yorkshire Three Peaks, on July 18, and Billy has completed his marathon in three hours and 30 minutes, on June 27.

“Joe had a truly infectious smile that could light up a whole room and anyone who knew him was truly blessed to have met him,” said Ella.

“He was the same age as me and had such a bright future ahead of him.

“I would like to help Joe’s family by helping them with the cost of the funeral or using the money in a way that Joe himself would have wanted.

“Any donation, no matter how big or small, would be truly appreciated by everyone.”

Joe, who attended Coastal Bend College in Texas, died on June 10 at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, after a short battle with cancer.

He had been playing football for the college, after winning a scholarship to the American university.

“Joe was one of the most amazing people you could ever meet,” added Billy.

“He had an infectious smile and a charisma that was charming.

“He was loved by all his family and friends and a privilege to know.

“If you could make a donation towards our fundraisers, it would be greatly appreciated.”
