THE annual mayor-making ceremonies have been placed on hold this year due to the coronavrius pandemic.

A change in the law, due to Covid-19, means councils do not need to hold an annual meeting, which are usually held in May, this year.

The mayor of Malton remains Cllr Paul Emberely with Kerry Ennis as deputy. Pickering’s town mayor Helen McAnulty-Rickard also remains in office with deputy John Stott.

Kirkbymoorside mayor is Cllr Nick Holroyd and deputy Joe Couglan, while Norton Town Council has re-elected Cllr Antony Croser as mayor and Cllr Ann Spencer as deputy.

The chairman of Helmsley Town Council remains Cllr Ian Saggers with Cllr Jonathan Fairburn as vice-chairman.
