A DIVERSE range of specialist and classic cars, including a Porsche and ex-Formula 1 car, are to go under the hammer.

Administrators brought in after Specialist Cars of Malton went in administration earlier this year, are now auctioning off its assets.

The items will a Euro Brun ex-Formula 1 car and Indy car, as well as parts for classic and modern performance cars, workshop/showroom equipment and Porsche memorabilia.

The company’s freehold car showroom and yard, together with a maintenance and repair workshop, on the York Road Industrial Estate in Malton, are also being sold.

Specialist Cars of Malton ceased trading in February after 25 years with the appointment of Adrian Graham and Ryan Holdsworth of Graywoods as joint administrators.

Walker Singleton, acting for the administrators, are overseeing the auction, which has been forced online due to the coronavirus panedmic. Viewings are on an appointment basis only.

Stephen Jones, director in the machinery and business assets, said: “Specialist Cars of Malton were synonymous with classic and performance cars and the auction highlights this with lots ranging from a Euro Brun ex-Formula 1 car, Indy car and Porsche classics through to car ramps and extensive parts stocks – nothing if not diverse.

“I don’t think the company themselves realised how extensive their stock of spares and parts was or the level of interest in the memorabilia they have accrued over the years, most of which relates to Porsche.

“Preliminary marketing has triggered high levels of interest, as we anticipated, although we wouldn’t necessarily have expected enquires from as far afield as Australia and South America.

“Whilst, in the current period, there isn’t the opportunity for petrol heads to fire up their engines and head for a live auction, I feel sure the sale will draw out the same feeling of competition and excitement – through the online bidding.”

The auction closes on June 11.
