FARNDALE Show is the latest annual event to be cancelled.

The show, which was due to take place on August 31, is the latest victim to the coronavirus pandemic.

A spokesperson for the show said: “In light of the current situation and government guidelines on social gatherings, it is with regret that the 2020 Farndale Show is to be cancelled.

“The committee would like to thank you for your continued support and look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2021.”

Malton Show, Thornton-le-Dale and Bildale shows have already been cancelled this year.

However, Ryedale Show is planning a “virtual” version of the event.

Secretary Christine Thompson said: “We have compiled a schedule of classes that we hope will fit in with our lockdown lives.”

There are just 14 classes, some of which would have been introduced into the section schedules for the first time this year. Items are to be photographed and sent to the show office by electronic means only by Tuesday, July 21. Judging will take place on Tuesday, July 28, and winners announced on the day.

The schedule is now available on the Ryedale Show website at ryedaleshow.co.uk
