A RYEDALE cafe has beaten off stiff competition to win a coveted award.

The Vine House Café, at the Helmsley Walled Garden, has won the Visit England Taste of England Award for their selection of food and drink within a tourism setting.

Run by brother and sister team, Sam and Mollie Chapman, the business was taken over in 2016 with a range of artisan gins, a selection board and homemade cakes.

“We are thrilled to be recognised for our food and drink by Visit England,” said co-owner Mollie Chapman.

“We pride ourselves on being a quirky cafe set within the beautiful unique surroundings of Helmsley Walled Garden.

‘We have a real passion for food, drink and service, and we want every customer to have a wonderful experience with us.”

The Vine House Café is open every day from March 28 until October, from 10am, with last orders at 4.30pm, with takeaway hot drinks and cakes on offer, alongside Helmsley Walled Garden, which is opening for free during the coronavirus outbreak.

Tricia Harris, Helmsley Walled Garden’s marketing and communications manager, said: “We are immensely proud that The Vine House Café has beaten off stiff competition to win.

“They give a warm Yorkshire welcome to everyone alongside their fabulous food and drink. This award is richly deserved.”
