FOUR high-achieving students and apprentices have earned a place in a hairdressing, make-up and beauty final, in March.

The Academy, based in Scarborough and Norton, competed at the regional college heat, in Gateshead, with four students winning a place in the national finals in Blackpool next month.

The winning categories included first year blow dry, men’s cut and blow dry, ladies evening style and body painting.

“Each year our students work so hard to achieve this high standard,” said Lindsay Burr, director at The Academy. “It is a real credit to all who train and support these students from salon owners to Academy tutors and all friends and family members who are involved on competition day.”

Competing apprentices from Ryedale included Paul Coyle of Shugs Barbers in Kirkbymoorside and Nadine Woodhead and Nell Pinkney of Goodys in Malton.

Tracy Ireland, from Malton, competed as a hairdressing student from The Academy.

The Academy works in partnership with schools and employers from Ryedale, Scarborough, Whitby and Driffield.
