MANAGER Denny Ingram has been sacked by Pickering Town, with Steve Roberts quickly revealed as his successor.

Pickering have won just three of 21 league games this season in the BetVictor Northern Premier League north west division, leaving them two points adrift at the foot of the table.

A statement on the Pickering Town website by chairman Wayne Taylor read: "The club would like to put on record their sincere thanks to Denny for all his hard work and endeavour whilst he has been manager, but unfortunately football is very much a results game and our results this season have been disappointing.

"We wish Denny all the best for the future."

Roberts has stepped into the post and joins the club from NPL premier division out Scarborough Athletic, where he was first-team coach.

On the news of Roberts' arrival, Taylor said: "He is no stranger to the area or the club having played for the Pikes in the early 2000's.

"We give Steve a warm welcome to the club and wish him every success."
