A FISH and chip restaurant that was recently named as one of the 10 best in the UK has applied to create an outside seating area.
The Fisherman’s Wife in Khyber Pass in Whitby wants to create a dog-friendly area for people to have takeaways from the restaurant.
The restaurant was named as one of the 10 finalists for the 2020 National Fish & Chip Awards earlier this year.
The planning application for a change of use for the land submitted to Scarborough Council states: “The proposal is for an external seating and takeaway area to an existing fish and chip restaurant to provide much-needed expansion and dog-friendly facilities.
“The site is to be accessed via a new opening in the stone boundary wall.”
A takeaway service hatch will be created for people using the area to place their orders.
The plans are now out to consultation.
