A PUMP is in operation tonight to lower water levels in Town Street, Old Malton penstock (known locally as the catwell) and discharge the water into the River Derwent.
The river side walk in Malton is also shut due to flooding.
Elsewhere a flood alert remains in force due to high levels on the Derwent at Buttercrambe.
A spokesman for the Environment Agency said: " No further significant rain is forecast. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and avoid driving through any floodwater. Our incident response staff are closely monitoring the forecast from the incident room and will update the situation."
