A NEW collaboration will ensure that no waste generated by Dalby Forest visitors will go into landfills.
Dalby Forest and Yorwaste has created a new waste management service to recycle waste into green electricity in a bid to tackle pollution.
Alison Leyshon, forest centre operation manager at Dalby Forest, said: “Following customer feedback, we identified issues and worked closely with Yorwaste to find a solution which meets the needs and expectations of our customers.”
The material is collected twice a week by Yorwaste and taken to Allerton Waste Recovery Park to remove all recyclables.
Any remaining waste then undergoes energy from waste treatment which provides electricity feeding back into the National Grid – formulating enough energy to power 40,000 homes.
Liz Thompson, Yorwaste business development director, said: “Dalby Forest shares our commitment to protecting the environment and ensuring North Yorkshire remains a beautiful place in which to live and work.
“We can guarantee to keep their carbon footprint to an absolute minimum.”
