A SPECIAL event is being organised by Appleton le Moors WI which will take guests on a journey across the world to raise funds for Saint Catherine’s.

The ‘Journey Across the World’ event is being held in conjunction with travel experts from Spear Travels, who will talk about travelling to Canada and Africa, and on cultural and music holidays, cruising, touring and winter sun breaks.

A supper is being provided by Helmsley head-quartered Thomas the Baker.

Helmsley’s Saint Catherine’s charity shop will be bringing along a range of quality second-hand cruise and holiday-wear for guests to bag a bargain.

Carolyn Frank of the Appleton le Moors WI said: “We’re hoping to have lots of people come along to this fantastic charity event. If you’re thinking of how you’d like to enjoy some winter sun or have a holiday next year to look forward to, it should provide lots of inspiration. There’s also the opportunity to grab a bargain from the St Catherine’s Hospice Holiday-wear Shop and of course plenty of time to socialise and enjoy some supper from Thomas the Baker. We’re very grateful for its support, and hope we’ll be able to raise lots of money for our wonderful local hospice and the outstanding work it does.”

Simon Thomas, general manager at Thomas the Baker, said: “We are delighted to be involved in this event, it sounds like it’s going to be lots of fun and it’s for a very worth cause. We’re looking forward to getting the discerning taste-testers and excellent cooks, bakers and chefs who make up the WI to taste our Party Platters and give us their verdict.”

The event takes place on September 25 at Appleton le Moors village hall Tickets cost £8, to include a welcome drink, tea and biscuits and supper. The event will start at 6.30pm with all the money raised on the evening will go to St Catherine’s Hospice.
