ENTRIES are all in and contestants are getting ready for Tuesday’s Ryedale Show.

The show is one of the largest one-day shows in North Yorkshire, running in excess of 90 classes for horses and ponies.

In addition to the horse showing classes, the show will see unaffiliated showjumping in a number of classes, including 55cm, 65cm, pairs rescue relay, 75cm and 85cm.

In response to the recent series of equine flu outbreaks that have struck throughout the country, the show organisers have warned horse exhibitors that their equine flu policy is included in the schedule. They said that: “Horses must have been vaccinated within six months of the show, but not less than seven days of arrival.”

Ryedale Show is affiliated to all the major showing societies, including Horse of the Year Show, British Show Horse Association, RoR, and BSPS, and runs qualifiers for all the major society championships.

For showing, the huge list of sections available include Shires, Clydesdales, Heavy Horse Young Handler, Heavy Horse Turnouts, Cleveland Bays, In Hand Irish Draught, Hunter Breeding, Ridden Hunters, Show Hunter of the Year (HOYS qualifier), Working Hunter, Riding Horse, Ridden Cob, Retrained Racehorse, Coloured Horse/Pony, Veteran Horse/Pony, In Hand Mountain & Moorland, Ridden Mountain & Moorland, Mountain & Moorland WHP, Ridden Show Pony, Ridden Show Hunter Pony, Working Hunter Pony, Private Driving, Mounted Fancy Dress.

The Ryedale Show is an agricultural show which takes place at the Welburn Park Showground, near Kirkbymoorside. Established in 1855, it has run almost continuously for more than150

years.
