MACMILLAN Cancer Support’s Mobile Information and Support Service will be visiting Helmsley this week with cancer information specialists on hand to answer any questions.

Wayne Priestley, from the mobile information team, said they encouraged anyone – especially any men - with worries relating to cancer to stop by.

He said: “In the UK, around 500 men are diagnosed with cancer every day. Yet men often find it difficult to talk about cancer, let alone ask for support.

“We want more men to talk about cancer and ask for support if they need it.”

Wayne added: “With summer fast approaching - the team will also be providing specialist information about sun safety and skin cancer.

“Skin cancers are most likely to appear on skin that is exposed to the sun. If caught early, they are very treatable and most people with non-melanoma skin cancers are cured with treatment.”

The team will be at the bike show, Duncombe Park on Friday, June 21 and Saturday, June 22, 10am to 6pm.

Wayne added: “When we visit the area we’ll be on hand to answer any questions about cancer.

“Whether you want to know what symptoms to look out for, need advice about managing the side effects of your treatment, or want to find local support for carers, come along and see us. We’d be happy to help.”
