A WIDE variety of jazz, blues, acoustic, soul and funk will be on offer at the Burton Agnes Jazz & Blues Festival next month.

The Burton Agnes Jazz & Blues Festival, which first began in 2007, takes place over the weekend of Friday 12 to Sunday July 14.

Music will come from the main stage in the grounds, the late night acts in the bar tent, inside the Great Hall, and from the cafe and shops courtyard.

Firmly established in the festival calendar, this is a weekend designed for the whole family to relax and enjoy, in beautiful festival surroundings.

The festival is uniquely set in one of the UK’s finest Elizabethan stately homes, Burton Agnes Hall near Driffield.

Over 25 bands provide a weekend of Jazz and Blues manicured lawns and inside the ornate Great Hall.

There is camping with hot showers in the adjacent park field, children’s entertainers, local ale and food, late night acts in the bar tent and open mic performances in the shops and cafe courtyard.

Refreshments from the courtyard cafe will be served in the tea tent and there will also be a range of locally sourced food on the food lawn.

Award-winning Wold Top beers will be on tap, which is brewed just a few miles away.

Music is provided for all tastes, from those seeking an ambient accompaniment to a glass of wine in the majestic grounds, to the jazz or blues aficionado wanting to get up close to star performers.

Among those appearing at the festival are Newcastle and Cumbria band Ponyland, keyboard player Morris “Mo” Pleasure, quartet Emma Johnson’s Gravy Boat, along with country blues and ragtime, hokum, jug band Max and Veronica.

Once again bringing the festival to a close will be Ben Beattie’s after midnight band plus host Simon Cunliffe-Lister.

They will join Artephis, The Mark Williams Trio, King For a Day: The Nat King Cole Story with Atila and more.
