MALTON Town Council has awarded a new three-year grass cutting contract.

Steve’s Gardening Services from Thornton le Dale will undertake the grass cutting service in Malton on a monthly basis from April through to October.

Councillor Paul Emberley, Mayor of Malton, said: “Keeping our town looking good all year round is so important to everyone that lives or works in Malton – but it’s crucial for our visitor economy too.

“Since the new team has started work, a huge amount of praise has been received by the Town Council for the high standard of service carried out by Steve and his team.

Cllr Emberley added: “We’re also starting to look at other ways in which we can further improve our environment in Malton, and we’re now working with our partners on new initiatives for example to deal with litter, street cleaning, and the appearance of signage and street furniture.”

“The attention to detail on such tasks such as grass and verge cutting is important to the Town Council, which also manages and financially supports the Malton in Bloom project.”

Cllr Emberley said: “Malton in Bloom is supported by local volunteers who work hard to ensure the town looks beautiful for residents and visitors to enjoy throughout the year.

“The project has once again entered the Yorkshire in Bloom competition – after winning gold in the competition last year.”

“Malton’s a fantastic town in one of the most glorious parts of Yorkshire – whether we live here, do business in the town or visit – let’s all share the pride and thank you Steve and to his team for playing your part.”

Steve Gough, from Steve’s Gardening Services, said: “Our landscaping team are passionate about the new role and ensuring that the grassed areas of Malton are kept looking their best.”
