PUPILS at Malton Primary School have spent the day learning about Gamelan - the traditional ensemble music of Java and Bali in Indonesia.
The Sound of Bronze, a University of York project supported by Youth music, performed for the whole school and introduced the unusual instruments to the children.
This was followed by each class in school, from Reception to Year 6, taking part in workshops where every child had an opportunity to play the instruments.
The day was part of the school’s cultural education to introduce the children to different types of music and to hear live music being performed.
