A DEVELOPMENT of 39 new homes in Old Malton is “coming soon”, the developers have said.
The development of two, three and four-bed houses and bungalows, by the award-winning house-builder Duchy Homes, is being built on two hectares of conservation area land on the site of the former Coronation farm and disused council depot, in Westgate.
The site has been subject to a couple of planning applications over the past few years.
An outline planning application for demolition of some of the existing buildings and permission for “circa 35 homes” was made in 2015.
Another full application for 39 homes was then made in summer 2016, and was approved by members of Ryedale District Council in January 2017.
A spokesman for Duchy said: “Outline planning permission has already been granted for residential development and Duchy Homes is now preparing its reserved matters submission for high-quality family homes.”
They added it will “enhance the village with its use of traditional, high-quality materials to provide much-needed new homes, and existing stone will be re-used where possible to retain the charm of its former agricultural setting”.
According to Duchy, the site will be named Derwent Green - the plans include a large communal green space.
